EasiForm, GoDaddy, Error 553 Administratively denied

I finally got around to trying EasiForm today.

The test page is on GoDaddy for now. Got the ioncube loader to function properly in PHP 4, per the ioncube tester mini app.

When I submit the test forms that came with the tutorial, I get a 553 error, “Administratively Denied”. Its a similar message on several of my emails- I believe yahoo said it like that.

Mike B – any thoughts? Or should I just forget about GoDaddy?

Incidentally, I could not get the ioncube loader to load when my server was set in PHP 5.

Hi Andrew,

I have a couple of people using easiForm on Go Daddy and they ‘as far
as I know’ are not having problems, at least they weren’t but I
believe ‘here’ GD have made some changes in the last few months.

Try this:

  1. Expand the PHP easiForm to ‘Advanced’
  2. Select ‘yes’ from the ‘Set -f parameter’ menu
  3. Type an email from that domain in the field for the -f parameter
email if different from the ‘required’ email.

The email that is used in the -f parameter is not used to send email
to or from with the easiForm script, some servers require this for the
mail() function and I hear people saying that they didn’t need it
before but do now, some servers just need an email value there but GD
I believe needs to have an email from the domain the form is used on.

If you don’t have luck with this… I have no idea why but when
someone once contacted their server about why they where getting
problems they insisted the -f parameter * must * be used, but they
where using it and the emails where not getting through… so they
just tried setting it to not be used… and the emails then got
through. Basically the guy was being told it must be used and it
happened that was the problem, not using it made the form work. Why am
I saying this? well because if setting the -f parameter to an email
address for that domain doesn’t work then try different options with
this setting in the easiForm… just in case.

BTW, what version of PHP 5 did you try the loaders with? If you can
send me through a test page I can look at (You can do that off list if
you like) along with any other info you have on that like your
php_info page (probably best to save as pfd as a screen-shot will not
take it all in). It may also be that they haven’t the PHP 5 ini set
for the loaders although in saying this, most GD easiForm users I have
spoken to have had to set their ini file from their control panel for
the loaders to load.

Let me know how you get on.

Ah ok, sorry I didn’t pick up on the header you sent. It is the -f
parameter that you need to set in the PHP easiForm action inspector,
in fact if you look at it you can see the email address the header is
telling you to set the -f parameter to.

Don’t forget to upload the site again after making the cahanges.

Hey Mike,

Thanks for the quick response. The test form I’m noodling around with is at:

http://www.macrisdirect.com/justforfun/easiform/form2.php

Set to basic, I get the failure notice, but the form info does come through at the end of the failure notice.

With advanced turned on and -f set to the an email that’s off of macrisdirect.com, I get no response from the form.

With advanced turned on and -f set to a different email, I get no response from the form.

With advanced turned on and -f set to off, I get no response from the form.

I tried running PHP 5.2.X, can’t remember the last number, but it was a flavor of 5.2. Whatever GoDaddy has currently for linux servers.

I don’t plan on hosting my next site on Go Daddy, but it would be great if I could get this to work in this case.

thanks,
Andrew

Sorry but just to be clear: when you have the easiForm set to use -f
have you set the email to * the email address the message header tells
you to use * for the macrisdirect.com * domain? see the line…

X-Authentication-Warning: AMacris set sender to * the
macrisdirect.com email address to use * using -f

If you still find it doesn’t work let me know and please send me the
easiForm config file that Freeway outputs and a copy of the headers
from the email as you sent before with the 5th parameter set. If you
want to send that information directly to me you can rather than print
your various emails in the list posts, although it is probably a
little late to prevent that.

I take it you have uploaded the web site again after the changes?

The loaders above 5.1 (5.2 and above) have just been released, if you
want to try PHP 5.2 you can download loaders for Linux 84-64 from here:
http://easibase.com/Resources/ioncube_loaders_lin_x86-64.zip

I have yet to add the new ones to the actual ioncube folder that comes
with the actions but will get round to that tomorrow hopefully.

My main email routes through mailstreet.com on a small business exchange server. There’s something funny there. I also have another email that’s on the same domain but does not bounce through exchange. The non-exchange email worked fine with -f set to the same email as recipient and on the domain.

It appears in this case it may not have been GoDaddy. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll see if I can fiddle around with the PHP 5 later on today.

I’ve seen this myself, always with Exchange. It has to do with
security options in Exchange, where it doesn’t trust another computer
to handle any mail for the domain. Two of my clients have simply
routed around the problem by getting a Gmail account for the purpose
of receiving mail from the server. Cuts down on the spam that way,
too. Another client burned through a ton of money to have someone try
to fix the problem in Exchange, and it never did entirely work.

To summarize my findings and again, I’m not sure if this applies beyond GoDaddy…

To send form responses to an email on the domain…

Just basic set-up. Any email on the domain works for me, so long as it’s not an exchange mailbox.

To send form responses off the domain (to yahoo mail or gmail)…

On my setup, if I want the “recipient email” to be off the domain, I first set the recipient email to whatever, then click on advanced configuration and set the “-f parameter” to “Yes-Enter other -f parameter email”. Then I make sure to enter a non-exchange email address with the same domain name as the website here. Works great.

If you get this 553 error, this will likely fix it.

Andrew,

Not all servers require the -f parameter to be used but I have read in
a couple of places that Go Daddy changed their settings to require the
-f parameter for scripts that use the PHP mail function, as we have
discussed that option exists in easiForm and glad to hear of your
results.

Thanks for the exchange info, I am sure this will be useful.

I would be interested in how you get on with PHP 5, if you ever get
round to that then please let me know how it goes.

Mailstreet just went to McAfee spam control. Turns out that my main email address was somehow added to my blocked sender list. This seems to have caused the 553 error.

Will try the PHP 5 again this weekend.

Just in case, I found this on the ioncube web site:

If refers to Go Daddy and installing ioncube for PHP 5.
