I’ve recently discovered the Edit Alt Text window accessed via the Page menu. I’ve used it to edit the alt text on several pages, only to find that they haven’t stuck. When I reopened the window, the old alt text was back. Has anyone else had this problem?

Make sure you hit enter before performing any other tasks.

Ah. So you need to hit Enter, rather than simply clicking on another item to edit? That would explain why some of the changes stuck and others didn’t.
Editing alt text via the sidebar is probably easier, but it’s good to know the other options as well.
Thanks, Nathan.

Yikes. I’ve followed your advice, Nathan, but the problem persists! Changes to alt text are not sticking when applied via the window.
And what’s more, not all my alt text is showing up in the sidebar. I need to go to the window in order to edit it. Or the Inspector, but that’s more time-consuming.

Confirmed here in 5.5.2.
With or without the enter key.

Yup, 5.5.2 here as well. Intel iMac running 10.6.5.
Could a bug fix request be in order?

I agree, the Edit Alt Text window accessed via the Page menu doesn’t work for me either.
Can Softpress look into this.

I’ll get it logged if it isn’t already. It seems to only happen with table based items, I wasn’t able to repeat it using layers.

Hi Joe
It doesn’t work for me on layer based items.
I’m using OS 10.5.8 on an Intel iMac and the most recent version of FW.
Thanks

You’re right. I noticed that when logging it. It seems to be caused by editing more than one value at a time. Apologies for the inconvenience.
