Embedding Fonts and Minimum Width

I have a few more questions.

Using one of Softpress’ templates (Floral) I see it is possible to ‘embed’ your own font into your site. Softpress appears to use Della Respira which I am assuming is not a ‘globally’ recognised font.

I’ve tried to simply replace Della Respira with Skia (this is a TrueType font (.ttf). When I publish my site, all text which uses Skia appears in ‘Times’ on other devices. Am I missing something?

Also, my old site uses a lot of table items. I see if I place a table item into a page, freeway will not allow me to resize it just for smaller screen sizes. (I know I should use the HTML items (CSS)) but I have 900 entries in my tables and the work is too much.

Instead, can I limit my site to a minimum size, forcing smaller devices to scale (as per non responsive sites)?

Ah… sorted the minimum issue, I was thinking too complicated around CSS settings.

Della Respira is a google webfont, so if you think of replacing it, do it by another google web font:

Here is how to do:

With the knowledge of how to create a Font-Set in Freeway you can also use Tim’s WebFont action to give your .ttf (and created .eot) a go:

Furthermore (even without seeing an example) I recommend a straighter style strategy which increases a chance to display fonts on your page no matter where or how they are placed (I screencasted this a couple of episodes before the google one).

Cheers

Thomas

I love watching your screencasts, Thomas! It helps so much to be able to
show people - even if they don’t “understand” the concepts at first.
Repeated exposure only improves the learning.

Thanks for doing these.

Thanks for this information, I’ve spent the day following these links and my website is working with a Google webfont, close enough to be acceptable.
