Enlarging Graphics with more finesse

I’m not sure I spelled “finesse” correctly, but I’d like to increase the size of my graphics in smaller increments than the ones that happen when you press Command-Option-Shift-<.

Is this possible?

Thanks,
Jamie

Hi Jamie

You did spell it correctly.

Sorry, can’t help with your question.

That is a keyboard shortcut that grows or shrinks an image in 5%
steps each time you use it. If you want finer-grained control there
are other ways to scale your graphics…

Grab a corner of the graphic box and hold down the Option (Alt) key
while you drag to scale the image along with the box itself. (NOTE
that you must press the Option key after grabbing the box’s handle,
otherwise you will simply grab and pan the page instead.)

Hold down the Shift key as well while you do the above if you want to
avoid scaling the image disproportionately. The Shift key constrains
the scaling process.

Scale the box independently and then use Command-Option-Shift-F to
fit the graphic into the box’s boundaries. Use Command-Option-F
(without the Shift key) to stretch and squash the image to fill the
graphic box, not just scale it proportionately to fit inside. (See
Item > Fit Box to Content and Item > Graphic and the various options
in that submenu for the longhand way of doing this.)

With a graphic box (that contains an image) selected, choose Item >
Transform, or type Command-Option-T, to open the Transform dialog.
The current scaling percentage of the image is shown here, and you
can alter this directly. The Keep Aspect Ration checkbox is on by
default, so typing a value in one of those fields will mean the other
one will follow suit.

For bonus points, with one (or more) boxes selected, hold down the
Shift key and tap the arrow keys to grow or shrink the box one pixel
at a time. Try combining this nifty trick with the shortcuts for
fitting into/filling the box.
