Error when using text

Hi

I am absolutely new to Intaglio!! I just downloaded a demo, but I am going to buy it. Definately!

I am making Ahnentafel and when trying to construct a nice layout I have already several times encountered errors.

  • and it seems to be connected to the text tool. The last one was bad! I got a square black box, blinkind and when I moved the cursor outside the working area, it stopped blinking, but state that it was unable to perfom the action and an error code -30584. When I moved the cursor back, the blinking started again and I had to force quit to get out of the frozen state.

What is wrong ?

I did it again!

It is the geometry tool. I have an oval of a certain size, create a copy and in the geometry tool box I check the ‘keep’ proportions box and the increase the size by the numbers in the box above.

All froze again and the same error message as above appeared.

Has it something to do with the fact that this is a demo?

Been using it for several years so I would agree!

Intaglio has its little problems but I have never seen this one. I
think that more info is needed: What OS version, what Intaglio
version and what moves to make to reproduce the error.

I am not by any means an expert but wasn’t quite able to understand
what you were doing: I drew an oval, duplicated it with Command-D,
clicked the “Constrain Proportions” box, changed the number in Æx,
changed the number in x and all worked well.
The only thing I can think of is if you put in numbers beyond what
Intaglio can handle. But then Intaglio probably would tell you so.

If you give me a specific example I will try to duplicate it exactly

I am running Intaglio 2.9.7 (under 10.4.11) so I downloaded the demo
to check but it worked the same way.

Thanks Schremmer!

I run MacOSX 10.4.11 and the version 3.0.1.

I thought it might have something to do with a grouped image, but when I tried it now, everything was fine.

I will purchase it tomorrow (credit card payment in January, hehe) and maybe download it once more. If the problem occors again, I will make detailed notes about it, before I ask you again.

I really like the software, but I struggle a bit with the path tool. I want to make nice curved lines between persons in the ahnentafel, but still need to practice, I think.

I even read the manual!!

I started in Excel and there I used the curved connectors to do this job.

Indeed, the ways of computers are sometimes unfathomable.

By the way, when I downloaded the demo to see if that might indeed be
the trouble, it automatically found my registration number and my
preferences—but had the good grace not to replace the older version.
Not to mention the fact that I still have to pay for an update. Very
un-businesslike if you ask me. Intaglio is truly something else!

Hopefully someone more of an expert than I will respond.

Yes, somehow, the interface of the path tool is not entirely obvious.
But it does all that I ever needed to do even if I have to refresh my
memory once in a while.

Now THAT is something entirely NON Mac!!! :-)))

I gave up on Excel a century ago. Whenever I need a spreadsheet, I
use that of http://www.openoffice.org/

Best of luck
