Every page re-publishes

I have a site of about 80 pages with lots of graphics and if I make a
change, no matter how small - even nudging 1 graphic to the left by 1
pixel, then the whole site republishes when I preview in a browser.
This can be very frustrating when I want to see changes in a couple of
browsers before continuing. Would it be an action or something else
that causes this?

I have a workaround that might be useful: Make copy of the masterpage,
assign the copy master to the page you are working on. Any republish
of the page should now be affecting this only. Remember to reassign to
the ordinary master page when done (and if you introduced changes to
the copy masterpage, these should be transferred to the ordinary
master). A little cumbersome, but less time spent waiting.
