Exhibeo in box model

Aghh!!! I’m sure there is a simple explination and way around this but…I can’t get exhibeo to work when it’s nested within another html item.

I’m following Thomas Kimmich’s excellent box model tutorials but when I try to import a gallery into the site and preview in a browser it just collapses, when using Bloxx theme. If I use Focus theme, the gallery thumb will appear when I view it in the browser but the javascript doesn’t work - the image simply opens a new window to display the fullsize image (also the thumbnail will extend out of the parent item).

If I don’t nest these within an html item then they work fine, but that kinda negates the whole point of constructing a site in this way.

If someone could kindly explain what’s happening / what I need to do, I’d be very grateful.

Hi Steve,

sorry - I missed this post and haven’t had the opportunity yet to answer your PM.

The bad news first:

I never had a detailed view into EXHIBEO so am basically lost (and blind) and can’t judge any output code of this app.

Regarding a Box-in Box-Model, the only thing I could think of is, that you have to slightly draw the DIV that should contain the gallery (#module-exhibeo) into a dedicated DIV (such as #area-exhibeo to keep up our terms).

The way how is similar to the graphic-item I placed in this episode (just pick the HTML tool instead):

http://kimmich-dm.de/wordpress/?p=880

This will place the #module-exhibeo as position:absolute into the relative parent DIV. Probably this could help, but honestly it is just a guess.

To find out more, it would be necessary (at least for me) to have a look into something public, so if you could share a link with us, the chance would increase to sort this out rapidly.

Cheers

Thomas

Thanks for your reply Thomas,

I’m looking to put 4 small thumbnails in the right side bar.

Thanks for taking a look.

Exhibeo thumbnail items are fixed in size so there’s no need for them to be inflow in this instance. Just place them in the sidebar as regular items, or, because you have the heading in the sidebar – which isn’t fixed in size – place an inflow item right after that and put the Exhibeo items in that as regular absolute positioned items.

Simple when you know how! In fact it couldn’t be easier.

Thanks Joe!

Looks like I spoke too soon…

Any idea why the thumbnail image is shifting to the right by what appears to be half its width; this seems to be happening in all browsers with the exception of safari - I’ve tried everything I can think of to correct it but admittedly that isn’t much!

It’s the style centrejustify that’s applied to the sidebar that’s causing it. there are two possible solutions here:

Quick and dirty: Apply a style to the Exhibeo items with left align set.

The better solution: Open up the xbExport packages and find the bloxx-style.css files. In here change the position of the .bloxx-initial-thumbnail from absolute to relative on line 24. You’ll need to do this for each one and then republish in Freeway.

Thanks Joe,

The quick & dirty method works a treat but editing the css file didn’t work at all.

Also, when I’m viewing the site in firefox I can only click into one gallery; if I want to view another (or even the same one again) I need to refresh the page.

Cheers

Hi Steve,

Sorry about that. The reopening problem should be addressed in a fix coming very soon. We’ll look into the other issue that was fixed by aligning left.

Cheers,
Joe
