Exhibeo is here!

Arrrh thanks Robin … all Freeway too … just finishing off converting all the galleries to BLOXX … nearly 200 galleries, taking ages but it just looks too good not to use.

I was just checking all the Exhibeo examples in IE9. Naturally, the transition effects don’t work.

This has made me unwillingly put the brakes on - I have started to talk about it in the new Exhibeo list

Hey, that made me realize that Simon figured out the inner workings of cPanel and got the Exhibeo mailing list working correctly! If you’re a mail-only subscriber, you’ll want to get over to http://freewaytalk.net/person/options and subscribe today!

@howlingbasset (and others): Your initial thumbnails seem to be wayyyy bigger than the ones I am getting. Has anyone figured out how to manage their size?

Can’t control the size but they’re bigger if the first one is portrait.

Does anyone know, does it have anything to do with the size of the photo? And why does Bloxx have a bigger thumbnail than Focus with the same picture?

Bloxx thumbnails are all 192px wide, the height is just left alone. This means portraits or tall images end up larger than landscapes. The reason we do this is so the images all fit into columns, giving them that stacked blocks effect.

Focus thumbs are made to fit a 200px square.

We have a suggestion logged on allowing user control over the size of images and thumbs.

Cheers,
Joe

I was excited to replace a Showcase gallery with a Bloxx (here’s the existing page: Gallery | BubCap ). However, all I seem to be able to insert into my Freeway document is the icon that opens the Bloxx gallery. Is there a way to insert the gallery itself into a Freeway layout, so the grid of thumbnails from Showcase will be replaced by the the Bloxx thumbnails? I really want people to go to the Gallery page on my site and see all the photo thumbnails (just like Showcase).

If this isn’t possible, I’m disappointed. Based on the marketing I’ve seen for this new product, I really thought I could replace an existing Showcase gallery page (filled with thumbnails) with an Exhibeo gallery page (filled with thumbnails).

Feature Request: add a setting to allow for pass-through JPGs for full-size images. Why? I find Photoshop is much better at creating great-looking JPGs (at smaller sizes) than Freeway, Showcase, or Exhibeo have proven capable of. And, of course, Photoshop offers a more precise control of compression, whereas the mentioned Softpress apps offer some-to-zero control if image quality and file size. The difference in image clarity, while perhaps not obvious on an average photograph, is really noticeable on images with text, logos, and similar images.

HI Rob,

Both requests have been noted. We’re working on a version of Bloxx (or options therein) that has an initial grid as opposed to an initial thumbnail.

Cheers,

Joe

Thanks Joe! Yes, any cool initial grid would be great. Oh, and for now, an easy workaround on pass-through images is simply replacing the Exhibeo JPGs with the original JPGs.

his is what I have been looking for.

Downloaded the demo and was able to setup a test with 3 images. Perfect

But when I tried to export both the options were greyed out. Is this because it is the demo version or have I missed something.

Softpress generally time-bombs their demos, but leaves them 100% functional besides that. I imagine there’s some other explanation, unless you were trying to do this after the 30-day deadline.
