[Express] Actions - how to

I hate to start off a day in the stupid mode but, here goes anyway.
I am trying to install a counter on a page. I have been through the tutorial, users guide and reference manual and cannot figure it out.
Is there someplace that gives simple steps for using actions and specifically adding a counter?
I have been to counter site and registered. DL the action and received a site number.

Hey Walter, thanks for the response.
Yes I have read that. It only confused me more.
Does it refer to the file in the library or one of the 3 action
selections in the Insert, Window and Page on the toolbar?
If I go into the library, the only file I see is the counter file.
If i double click on it, a window comes up stating that I am installing an action and asking for the page location (top or bottom) and my account number. After I type that in, nothing else happens. No OK button, nothing.

You need to install the Action in your copy of Freeway first. That’s
the only part of this process that will ever throw up a dialog, so the
rest of your comment confuses me a little bit.

Once that’s done, the next thing you will do is add an instance of
that Action to your page. Exactly how you apply that depends on
whether you are adding the Action to the Master Page or to one of the
normal child pages.

If you’re using the Action on the master, then you will use the Action
drawing tool to draw a small square somewhere on your page – don’t
worry, it won’t show up at all – and then while that small square is
selected, the Actions palette will show the interface for adding the
Site ID.

If you’re using the Action on a regular child page, then you can use
the Page Action version, which will show its interface in the Actions
palette whenever nothing else on the page is selected.

Both versions of the Action have nearly the same interface, and it
doesn’t really matter which one you use, as long as you only use one
OR the other.

If you apply the Page Action version to a Master Page, it will work,
but only if you do that before creating any child pages from that
master (so if you do this as the very first design decision you make,
you will be fine). If you apply the Page Action to a master page after
you have made children from that master, they will appear to have
the Action applied, but they won’t really get the code until you use
Reapply Master (and probably either nuke all of your existing
content , or double-up your existing master content in the process).
The Action tool (draw a box) method will work no matter what.

Finally, you only need one Site ID for an entire site. As long as your
pages are titled differently, the Action (and the Web service) are
smart enough to figure out which page the hit came from.
