You either set your Document type in File>Document Setup under the Output Tab (this will set the default page for every new one you create from that point on) or on an individual page basis.

With nothing selected on the Page look in the Page inspector under the 3rd Tab you will find the HTML output settings.

I do not find a 3rd tab on the page inspector when the nothing is selected.

In the “edit hyperlink” window that comes up when you set the link destination, in the lower 3rd is a “TARGET” pull-down. Set it to “_blank”. Then the link will open a new window or tab.

This is in pro, don’t know if express is the same.

Absolutely correct but he needs a Transitional Doc type to get that option.

But if FW Express defaults to HTML5 then the option is there

I think i am going to cave and just pick up PRO. Freeway 6 is available and looks robust.

Thanks for the ideas!

DeltaDave,

Please explain “Transitional Doc type”. As someone still in WYSWYG web programing I just sort of discovered _blank by poking around.

In laymans terms Transitional allows more latitude where Strict has more rules - one of which is not allowing Target _blank
