I wonder if someone could help me with this problem. I have created a webpage (link below) and I would like to make couple of improvements to the fading slideshows on my page.
How can I make the upper banner and the photos left and right stay still (not reloading) when I click from one page to other. I have heard that this is done with frames, but cannot get it work. I wouldn’t like them to reload everytime. It’s annoying! Text can change but everything else stays still.
I have downloaded iFrame. Is this the right tool? How do I use it?
this is more a personal thing and I can’t tell you the “how to do frames”.
The Frame technique itself is annoying and its use is more than - hmmmm - doubtful (should be banned by law :-). Just one prompt: Search Engine, cause the SEO part of code is hidden behind the primary frame code.
A reload of parts of pages (banner …) is, assumed to optimized file sizes not any bigger issue at all.
If it comes to the wish to keep an element in “view”, it could be done with “fixed in window” (Pro, not sure about Express).
There aren’t a lot of takers here, cause I’m more than sure that the bigger part of freeway users didn’t touch frames at all, so me.
iFrame is dedicated to mirror minor/major parts of external pages (youtube videos as an example) so not to use what you want to achieve.
Just to see as first impression, or maybe personal thoughts.
Thanks for your reply! I’m so new to this thing that I don’t know exactly what I’m even asking! I don’t know about frames, just heard from a friend that back in the days they were used in achieving something like this.
My main goal is just to keep those picture areas still, in view, not to reload, every time I click new page on my site. I just would like to change the text area in the middle.
So do I have to update to Pro version to achieve this, fixed in window? So that is the answer. Great! It cannot be achieved in Express?
that’s what I said: I never had Express in use, so I can’t speak for its abilities in solving things. I just know, that Pro is offering so much more things, nearly all you can dream.
If you do not want to load a bigger part of your artwork, just want to change a defined area, I could thing of the mother of all stuff like this:
Ok. Thanks for your input. Just wanted to know if there is an easy way to do this in Express. I try to keep looking for answer. Or then I have to update.
Hi,
The flickering you see on the images when you switch between pages is created by the fading slideshow you have applied to the page. What appears to be happening is the images fade up when the page loads and this is causing the flickering effect you are seeing. I’d suggest looking at using the Showcase application and Action you have with Freeway 5.5 Express and use these to replace the fading slideshow you already have. The effect should be the same but the slideshow should only fade between images and not when the page initially loads.
Regards,
Tim.
