[Express] linking a PDF in fw-x 6.0.8

howdy,

updating my website, and for some reason i can not - for the life of me - manage to link a pdf file for download.

i once was able to: i have a page with linked pdfs. i created those about 3 years ago, using the hyperlink function. at least i think that’s how i did it.

now, when i try to link that way, i’m getting nothing.

any suggestions?

Maybe you did it like this:

  1. Select some text
  2. Hit ‘Command - K’
  3. Select the ‘External’ tab
  4. Select ‘Other’ from the ‘Protocol’ options
  5. Enter the path to the file

If the pdf was called my_doc.pdf and it was put in the ‘Resources’ folder then you would type: Resources/my_doc.pdf
into the external window.

But, if that’s what you did, you would also need to upload that file to your Resources folder on the server – Freeway will not upload files you merely link to. If you use the Link to File or Graphic Link to File Action to create a link to the PDF, then Freeway will also manage the file upload and maintain the link for you. If the PDF changes, the updated file will be uploaded for you automatically next time you publish.
