I’m new to this software (& this message board), so please bear with me … creating a site, the page width is what I want. PREVIEWING in browser or w/Freeway, the page is MUCH wider! Content is still centered, but on a much wider page of the same background color. Help please?

Hi Neil.
Kinda sounds like you are confusing the “page” area with the “background” area. When you set a background color that will be the predominant color filling the whole browser window. The page color if it is set the same as the background, or not set at all, would appear bigger.
Basically, the layout area you see in Freeway represents the “page” area your content will display in. Everything beyond those bounds is the background.

Thanks for your reply! Actually, it appears I do have background and page sort of mixed up, but I can’t figure the difference. The background color is all that’s described in the tutorial, when I set THAT it becomes the color of both the page AND the background (border)…I see NO background color in page mode, only ONE COLOR of the page itself, the ‘border’ is white. Switching to Preview the color now fills the entire work area, no distinction between the page and the background.
The manual seems to have no reference to ‘page color’. How do I set the page and the background separately?

The background color setting actually colors the area outside the boundries of the page. Easiest way to have a separate “page” color is to draw an html object that covers the entire page (or layout area if you prefer to call it that) then add your color to that box.
