[Express] sheet music PDFs

I am (re)building a site for a music teacher who uploads tons of PDFs of sheet music for her students
her current site is a WordPress site
transferring files to Freeway, and I am wondering if there is any other way to do this than a separate page per file
could there be a ‘master list’ of links on her ‘Downloads’ page, and clicking on any of those links would automatically download the associated file to her students’ desktop?
I assume an ‘ftp’-type link would be the way to do this, but where are the files uploaded to? is it possible to have a folder within the site folder that has all the PDFs in it, and when she hits ‘command-U’ to upload, it automatically places PDFs in an FTP folder with her host?
I am trying to make this as easy and seamless as possible for her, with the fewest steps, and all drag-and-drop, that I can
I am building this site in Express for her b/c she wants to manage it herself and can’t afford Pro
thanks!

Freeway Express comes with the Link to File, Graphic Link to File, Link to PDF, and Graphic Link to PDF Actions, so you can build this page pretty easily. Depending on how you want your page to look (icons vs. text links) you either draw a graphic box and apply the Graphic Link to PDF, or double-click inside the text box where you want your link to appear and use Insert / Action Item / Link to PDF from the main menu. Next, with the Actions palette showing (View / Actions) you use the Action interface to select the file that you want to link to, and in the case of the text link, the text that you want to have appear. That’s it – you’re done. Freeway will upload the file for you when you publish your site, and the link will always work, even if you rename the file later.

If your client wants to maintain this list of links herself, then you’re going to need to use a different technique (or you may need to upgrade to Pro and use one of the many CMS Actions to create a control panel for her to administer the collection). This will get you started.

hey Walt
thanks! that’s great
(I think she’s going to want to do whatever I do for future files within Express, so I will try this myself, see how easy it is, and if manageable write her a little DIY
neither of us want to be in a position where I have to maintain her site for her)
thanks again,

I just played around with this a bit - I think it may be too much for her to manage easily

I think the ideal implementation would be to have a ‘table’ of maybe 20 or 30 items, where she could re-label each item, and swap its associated file, ideally through drag-and-drop

is there any way for me to build something like this with one of the Pro control panels Walter referenced?

thanks, all
