[Express] Viewing my pages HTML

Hi,

I’m sorry if this is a basic question, but I can’t find any mention of it in tutorials, FAQ or manual.

I just want access to my pages’ HTML. In my case, the graphical formatting is not working (not sure if it is bug or user error) but I know I could just do this in HTML in 2 seconds, but can’t figure out where to access it.

How can I access the HTML results of what I’ve done graphically (in Freeway… I know I can open in a text editor, but that’s not the point!).

TIA,

David

There is no HTML inside a Freeway document. Freeway is a page layout
application, akin to QuarkXPress or Adobe InDesign. It generates HTML
and all the associated resources each time you publish or preview, but
it actually works in a completely different format internally. This is
actually a benefit. Now if you can explain the issue you’re having,
it’s probably simple to fix in Freeway.

Walter,

Thank you. The problem is my text formatting is not working. I used a standard template, unbolded and italicized a bit of text in the template. It shows fine in Freeway, but not when viewed in a browser.

I’m using the Sonata standard template.

In the main page, you see “Hello There” and the paragraph right under that… First sentence is bold, the regular for remainder.

Look at http://bleedforyourcause.org/donate.html, first paragraph. Where I say “Link will open in new tab” – I mean for that to be non-bold and italics. It looks non-bold and italics in Freeway (I can’t attach a screenshot, or I would).

Also, on the main page (http://bleedforyourcause.org) for some reason the text “donate blood” is showing up as each word linked separately, but it’s one link.

These are both things I could fix easily in the HTML, but are killing me in Freeway.

Thanks!

David

Try this:

Triple click on the text so that the entire line is selected. Then
click on the [No Style] option in the Styles palette. This will remove
all of the formatting. Then add your text style back again, and select
only the parts that you want to be bold, and bold them. Your entire
line of text is being wrapped in a strong tag, and that’s what’s
throwing things off (as I’m sure you know). But I think the reason
it’s happening the way it is is because that strong is being applied
at the paragraph level, rather than simply wrapping a few words within
a larger paragraph. If it looks right in Freeway, but not in Freeway’s
preview (or on your uploaded site) then there is a disconnect somewhere.

Weird. I select all the text in the whole area, make it “no format”, check it in a browser, and the paragraph is still bold.

Try using Command-a in the box to select absolutely everything in the item and then try clearing the styles. Also, look out for working on a Master and the changes not taking effect on the page based on the Master. Previewing in the browser from the Master will actually open the first page in the site in the browser, not the Master. Check the pages to see if they are bold in Freeway (and if necessary reattach it to the Master by checking the Use Master Content option).

If that still doesn’t help then send the file into our support team at support(at)softpress.com and they will happily take a look at what’s happening for you.
