Express vs Pro

As a web designer moving to Freeway from Adobe Golive, I have some sites to redo in Express that it will be perfect for, and the option of client buying $69 software to maintain their own text revisions after my redo is great. My own site, however, is another story, I will definitely need Pro. Question, can I use both? I’m thinking that you cannot open Pro sites in Express, so I would have to maintain both versions on my machine. Thoughts?

Not sure I’m understanding this Dianna; you say ‘I will definitely need Pro’ and, if that’s the case, why not simply use Pro exclusively?

I will need to use Express for my customers that will maintain their own TEXT revisions. If there are design element revisions, I will have to do those. Most of my folks are not comfortable with much more than text, calendar revisions, etc. So, if I make design changes to their sites, I will need to use Express. Thanks for clarifying… I see I didn’t make that clear.

Sorry Dianna, I didn’t get that it was the clients who were buying Express.

If they are just doing some text revisions then why not use a CMS like Pulse and save them (and you) the cost of Express.

I did not know about Pulse… checking into it now. Can I create the site from scratch in Pro and then them edit it in Pulse? I have 4 customers that use Adobe Contribute for editing their text revisions. I work very well with Freeway since I come from a design/desktop publising background and not wanted to take the time and learning curve of creating CMS sites, since only a few of my customers would utilize it. If this works the way I think it will, it brilliant… thank you so much.

Yes.

What you would do is create editable areas in your FW page (by inserting some Markup from the Pulse Manager) that are then populated from the Pulse web based interface.

You can do image galleries, blogs, forms etc. in Pulse but most clients just want a couple of areas they can update themselves.

I appreciate your information so much, I hope to pay it forward with things I know on this forum. I went ahead and purchased Pro tonight with the fantastic JUBILEE code and got it 60% off. I had a printed manual sent from LuLu that I received last week, and of course, all the Pro features are in it, so I have been secretly wanting it as I’ve seen the comparisons. This option of using Pulse is truly great for my needs. Thanks Again.
