[Express] WebYep 2 Teaser

This is just to show all the people who were thinking ‘what happened to the major overhaul to webyep’ a little sneak preview…
It’s getting close to the point where-by some experienced freeway webyep people are going to be testing it for real… and yes this is an actual site using the all new webyep-2 (with no smoke and mirrors).

Excellent Max, looking forward to it.

Is the Rich Text editor now built in? That’s the one part of WebYep I’ve always had problems with.

Hi Trev
yes the redactor rich text editor is built in and installed so is the image uploader so you can upload new or choose already uploaded images from within the rich text editor… Redactor is a commercial editor and I have had to buy a commercial license to allow me to use it in the build but the upshot of that is that its slick fast and a heck of a lot nicer to use than either TinyMCE or CKeditor

Looks blooming marvellous, can’t wait. Would you be able to give some sort of timing? Are we talking weeks, months? I won’t hold you to it!

As Walter has indicated before, the time involved is massive…
its as long as my most pessimistic prediction can be then double it and finally add a couple of naughts. Since taking on this project I have come to realise quite how time consuming this is and in turn I won’t ever criticise Softpress ever again about not seeing enough advancements in freeway… it really takes up a MASSIVE amount of time!!!

But to give you a better idea of where I am…. the actual system is working, there bugs which I am going through now and I haven’t adjusted the freeway actions and they do need to be adjusted.
I also have not written the manual or the digital manual which this version will require. I also need to get the Rapidweaver and Dreamweaver plugins sorted because like the freeway version they need updating. Whilst thats happening there needs to be some serious beta testing because this isn’t a small update it really is a massive upgrade so again thats going to take time.

I hope to be ready in around October!!! but as you can see theres loads still to do and in the meantime my family need to eat… so work takes quite a bit of my spare time

I will be posting up some more teasers in the next week or so so you can see more of how its working out but I hope people will be patient.

speak soon max

To All Who Appreciate Quality Tools…

I have been away from the Freeway community for some time as I have been pursuing a new venture that has not required any internet technology as of yet. While revisiting Freeway and topics of interest in preparation for things to come I came across this thread. I want to take a moment from a very busy schedule to speak up on Max’s behalf.

I use the current version of this action and WebYep system. The work that Max has done with this entire thing is nothing short of brilliant. From what I have seen of what is to come this has taken a herculean effort on Max’s part. This is a project worthy of our support and certainly a product that should sell for much more then $20.

The beauty of the WebYep system and Max’s tireless efforts to make it a seamless Freeway tool is that you can do so much more then just make a website editable. With a little clever thinking I have been able to use the WebYep action to create cloud based systems with out having to build complex MySql database systems and such.

I am not affiliated with Max, I am merely one who is inspired by those who also push relentlessly to make products that enrich the design community. I further want to use this post to voice these sentiments to others who make the Freeway community all that it is, Walter Davis, Tim Plumb and of course Freeway which is at the hart of all of it. Also thanks to the many other contributors, keep up the great work everyone.

Kind Regards,
Dave Sutherland

May I ask when it will be released?

its really close… but to give an absolute date is really difficult.
It has to be tested fully before any release but I have done everything except the help menus but everything else is done

kind regards max
