I have been let down by the person who was developing a bespoke CMS for me and a few clients and have decided to take a look at EE as I have seen people here have used it and that there are actions to help the process.

I have a few questions if there’s anyone who would take the time to point me in the right direction.

  1. Is there a test version of EE that I can download/use to see if it’s exactly what I’m after?
  2. Are there any demo tutorials (or videos) that can help with implementing EE?
  3. Does the whole site need to go through EE or can the site be built and EE elements be added in certain areas on the page.

This should help with letting me know if it’s the right route for me to take.

@3: Yes. All browser request have to be processed by EE, that’s the essence of this system. And yes, you can have pages in your site without one line of EE code in it. In that case EE just passes through.
