Facebook Boxes: How to export HTML code from FW Pro to Facebook?

Hi, Folks –

On Facebook, they have a feature called “Boxes” which allows people to create their own design for that Facebook page.

It’s a simple process – just drop in HTML code.

Question – How do I create a page in FW Pro, then export the code so I can then drop it into a Facebook Box?

Thanks,
Jamie

Hi Jamie,
Do you mean Fan Boxes?

If not can you point me to something about this on Facebook’s site?
Thanks,
Tim.

Hi, Tim –

Thanks for your follow-up. You gotta love Mashable. They sure can put out great content.

I think we’re talking about the same thing.

To be sure, just go to Facebook and search for the Equifax fan page. (Equifax is a company based in the U.S.) You’ll be taken directly to their Box. They’ve customized their Fan page on Facebook by uploading HTML code to a “box.”

By the way, since this original post, I’ve been told the solution for me is to create a page in FW Pro, upload it, go to “view source,” copy the HTML code and drop it into the Box.

If there’s a different solution, let me know.

Thanks!

You dont need to upload to see your source - you can preview in your browser and view your source there.

The problem is going to be if there are images in your FW created file - if so then there will be relative links (Resources/image1.jpg) to these images and you will have to use the Remote Resources action AND upload so these image files get to the server and then can be found using absolute links (www.yoursite.com/Resources/image1.jpg).

The principal is very similar to that for creating an HTML email.

Hey, Dave –

Thanks for your follow-up. That means that I’ll just create it without graphics, which should be fine.

Also, I know you’re a regular supporter of the Forum, too, so thanks goes to you (and to Tim) for all your help.

P.S. I once read a book called “The 100 most influential people of all time.” At the end of the book, they did an analysis of which country had the most members in the list of 100. Scotland won! Thought you’d appreciate that.
