Fading images in and out

I’m working on a gallery site. Want I want is a list of my picture titles on the left side of the page. When you click on a title the corresponding image fades in and when another title is selected the previous image fades out and the new image fades in. Also, is it possible when you rollover a title it is highlighted while all the other titles fade a bit.

Your advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I know you can do this using Permalinks in SlideShowPro. You’ll need Flash to use the component because you’d have to drop in some Actionscript on the top-most layer.

I wrote it all out here a while back:

I’m sure someone else would have another way or an alternative method to achieve what you’re looking to do.

Thanks Dan, I’m a real novice. Your method seems way to complicated for me right now. I think there is a simpler method using the show/ hide layer action, but I haven’t been able to figure it out yet.

Apply a Rollover action to each of your trigger items. If you want
these to be actual HTML text, then draw an HTML box, click inside of
it to get a text cursor, and use Insert / Text Rollover from the main
menu to insert an instance of the Text Rollover action.

Give each rollover item a distinct MouseOver # (and make a note of
which is which.

Create your large photos as a stack of layered graphics boxes, and
apply the Target Show/Hide Image Action to each one. Set each one to
be initially hidden, restore: yes, and then make sure each one has
the appropriate Target number to match the correct trigger element.

Preview and you should see each one appear as you roll over the
correct element.
