Doing this in iWeb is a no brainer.
So far Im getting a white box inside my html text block.
Please tell me you can float a text block on top of a graphic image…
(Kind of the whole reason Im trying this app.)
Also If I tell the html type to be Trade Gothic it wont do it gracefully.
When I preview it, it switches to Verdana and looks grim.
Again, this works in iWeb.
Any thoughts out there?

HelloThomas,
Yes, you can float text above a graphic.
Open the INSPECTOR, draw a graphic item, make sure it is on a LAYER in Inspector
draw a text item, make sure it is on a layer, make sure it is on a layer in the INSPECTOR.
You can move the items over each other.
You may have to adjust which is on top by sending one back down a layer - see this in the ITEM menu.
See my site at http://www.nicolas-allan.co.uk/ or the use of many Freeway features.

But only if you have Trade Gothic installed. Which over 99% of the
world doesn’t. iWeb is doing you a disservice here. Read this:

for further information. Seriously!

HTML text can only be rendered in the viewers browser in the font you have chosen if that viewer has that Font in their system - otherwise it will revert to one of the standards like Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, Times
If you want to use a specific font that not everybody has then use Graphic text which is then output as an image file - not search engine friendly but if you need to do it for a design reason… Remember to anti alias correctly though over an image.
You can put HTML text over an image if they are CSS (layered items)

Sounds promising.
Where do you specify a layered item?

It isn’t something complex - just select an object and look in the
Inspector palette. If the “Layer” checkbox is checked, that object is
layered. If not, then not.
If the CSS Layout button is blue (highlighted) then new objects will
be layered by default. If it is grey (unhighlighted) then new objects
won’t be layered by default.
This is a Freeway Pro-only thing though; if you’re using Freeway
Express then you don’t have the layer option.

Ahh…
That explains it.
I am using Express.
So with Express I will not be able to layer html text on top of an image or any other layer.
Bummer.

Yeah, I figured the trade gothic thing was wishful thinking on my part.
I suppose I can live with Verdana for text. : )

Thanks Nick.
Apparently this is a Pro feature only right?
I have been told this option is not doable in the Express version, which is what Im currently trying out.
(Ive tried iWeb, Rapid Weaver and now Freeway)
Im liking Freeway a lot but it looks like I may need to spring for pro to do what I want.
