Forum page using Freeway Pro

Has anyone created a Forum page using Freeway Pro?
There doesn’t seem to be any actions to do it with and I’m not sure how to add code and Java script to accomplish this task. I don’t even know how to begin. I don’t like the chat room sites that stand in from another site, instead I want it hosted by my provider.

If you want it hosted by your provider then it is easiest to use one of the off the shelf ones that they offer.

My own offers phpBB and SMF but there are many out there.

There is so much going on in the background to run a forum that it is beyond the capabilities of all but very experienced coders.

Most of these forums can have their look altered to better suit you through CSS changes.

Pulse http://pulsecms.com/ have added blog capabilities and might be worth a look.

But if you can give us a better idea of what you are trying to achieve we may be able to point you in the right direction.

I am trying to create a forum page that will allow for discussions, like chat but not limited to one liners. We will be discussing political views, learning from one another. I need to be able to offer linked website posts along with potentially long (within reason) dissertations of views and information. I don’t need video or graphic posting but I will need a way to automatically screen for unwanted words. I would like it to be member based so that we can get rid of those that don’t act respectfully of others. Actually it could be very much like Freeway talk. I like the way that subjects can be fallowed in Freeway talk.

Look at Vanilla http://vanillaforums.org/. Clean and lean with
features and no bloat.

Another site that has what I am looking for can be found here:

Here is a link to a easy to use and run forum powered by CGI:

It is old but still works. The developer is not very active any more but there is a Users Forum with long time users lurking about to help. It is $16 euros.

Here is a link to someone who uses SimpleForum_Pro:

Hi Gary,

I’m running a german speaking “mini-freeway-list” on vanilla. This is not too bad, although updating/upgrading is a little bit of a nightmare yet. But seen as “never change a running system” it is actually a doable thing. The forum is:

http://www.kimmich-dm.de/fwp-forum.html

There is an english section as well. Feel free to rush in if anything unclear.

Cheers

Thomas
