Freeway 5.6.5 has been released

Dear FreewayTalkers,

We’ve just pushed out a new update of Freeway. For the moment, it’s only available to direct customers. We hadn’t anticipated such long wait in the App Store so I’m afraid you folks are going to have to wait a little longer for it. We’ll update this post to let you know when it’s ready.

This update is small but very significant. We are now happy to officially declare Freeway Mountain Lion compatible. In reality Freeway was running fine on Mountain Lion with the exception of one small cosmetic issue, which has now been addressed.

Freeway was also suffering from a saving problem that was hard to track down until now. The problem would cause Freeway to display a permissions error message while saving. Documents were actually being saved but would end up in a very odd state that would require a reboot or, at the very least, some fiddling in the Terminal to fix… Not fun. That has also been addressed.

Special thanks to Martin, a user who’s diligence and patience helped us track down that particular problem.

The full details of this release can be found in the release notes: http://www.softpress.com/releasenotes

As usual, we’re staggering the release so will turn on the in-app updating in due course.

Enjoy!

In FW 5.6.4, I’m trying to set up text links to downloadable files, but when I go to select the Link to File action on either the Tool palette or toolbar, I find it’s already checked. Yet, I can’t get its upload interface to appear on the Actions palette and I also can’t just remove the Action to strat over either.

I’ve never knowingly used the action before, but now I see it’s been selected on my Master pages too. Could it have quietly activated from other kinds of linking I did on the site (none are to files)? Anyone know if this is a bug and/or how I can get normal performance out of this Action?

(I mistakenly posted this to ActionsDev first last night – sorry for the duplication)

Hi Joe,

The selection is just saying that it’s ready to draw onto the page. Go through the process again. Even though it’s selected, select it. Now when you draw an item it will be a “Link to File” item.

Hope the helps,

Joe

Hi Joe… please remind me what the update procedure is again? Is it just
download the demo and add our information?

Yep, just download from the product page and that should be it. No need to enter your serial number again.

Joe,

Do you guys plan to fix the “preview destruction on scroll bounce” bug? Seems we have been living with that for an awfully long time.

Does 5.6.5 play nice will all previous Actions?

I use a lot of Actions as well as a version of WebYep that’s a few years old with Max’s actions.

Just want to make sure I don’t have any exploding web sites!

Thanks.

Check carefully to see what version of Prototype the WebYep Action links to your page. Newer versions of FW use Prototype 1.7, and if you also link Prototype 1.6 in the head of your page, you’re going to have problems. (1.6 doesn’t support IE 9 very well, where by very well I mean “at all”.)
