Freeway or Blogger Problem

I’m not sure which problem I’m having.
Initially, I wanted a blog on my website, so I tried to use the Freeway directions to include Blogger. That wasn’t going well, it didn’t look right, so I eventually just linked from my website (master page) to my blog on Blogger.

However, something strange is happening. When I hit the link from my site, my blog looks great - just the way I want it to. But when I try to access my blog from within Blogger (View Post) or even share a post with Google+, it looks wrong. There are about 25 lines of code starting from the top, and then it looks like my Freeway master page, with the exception of the CSS menu in outline form.

My website is inspiredimpact.biz and the link to the blog is to the right.
To get to the messed up page, go to http://tammymorris.blogspot.com/

I’m wondering if, when I was first trying to use a Freeway template for Blogger, I messed up something.

Any help or direction is appreciated! I would like to be able to access it properly through Google+ or Blogger.
Thank you!

HI Tammy,

I probably can’t be too much help here, but I’ve just had a few issues with blogger that were resolved by switching to “old blogger” for the purposes of setting up the new template.

Perhaps if you have been using the new format you could try that for starters.

I didn’t find the link from your site to your blog though?

Cheers,

Peter

Thank you, Peter. The link is a blue box on the right that says “Inspired Impact in Ed Tech Blog”.
Guess that tells me I need to make it a more obvious link, though

I am using the new blogger, so I can try switching to see if it makes a difference. I’m just really baffled because I thought I stopped using the template and just used a link. Maybe I need to somehow clear out the template I began using from Blogger.

… or maybe I needed another coffee before I looked!

When I click the link I see your blog in Blogger’s “dynamic” view, is that what you are trying to achieve?

The link from your site is
http://tammymorris.blogspot.com/view/mosiac.html

not

If you add “/view” after your blogspot address you will be directed to the new dynamic view in Blogger, but that does not publish your links or widgets. (This works for all blogger sites presently.)

If you are trying to use your template, go back to “old blogger” mode, and paste your html over the the old template html again. Just make sure you have deleted ALL of the old html first!

If on the other hand you want to see the dynamic “mosaic” view, don’t worry about your template, just stay in new blogger and set the dynamic view as your default.

I would probably do both, I don’t think your template will be permanently overwritten by the dynamic view mode, and if it is modified in future you may want to default back in any case.

Cheers,

Peter

Ah, Peter! That was it! I needed to set the dynamic mosaic view as my default in Blogger. Now I see the same thing when I view my blog from within Blogger or Google as I do when I click the link from my website, and that is exactly what I was trying to achieve. This works well enough, so I don’t need to mess with Freeway’s Blogger template. I think I dropped the template when I couldn’t make it work before, so I’m not going to mess with pasting any html.
I am grateful to you for sharing your knowledge! Thanks so much!

Hi,

I am having spacing issues with my blog. I have a problem with the spacing between the body and the Authors name. Way too much space! Can you provide me a way to decrease the excess space? Here is the link:

No access for me either, I’m afraid you’re going to have to change your blog access settings.

Hmmm - Peter,

regarding that person bombing in total 6 older threads with exactly the same request makes me wonder if this is honest or not.

Let’s see

Well yes it’s honest Thomas… An honest mistake. Just my first time on here and I didn’t know how to start a new post and what the response time would be. My blogger page is now unlocked. thanks in advance for the help! My original post was:

Apologize.

It is usually enough to either relate on one older entry matching your theme or hit one of the main theme button, eg “FreewayTalk” and “Start a new thread” at the bottom. Don’t forget subject (and plattform).

OK - your request:

Funny - I have had the opposite of you, will mean no space at all. You have for what ever reason the related style already in, me not so it is not that easy how we can fix this.

The responsible style is called:

http://pastie.org/3821261

What I did is to rush into bloggers backend, choose design, template-designer (hope the expression is correct) and there into extended. Copy the above style and paste it in there. This should substitute your existing style (which has margin value of 100px in your case) - play with the values to match your needs.

But it would be furthermore of interest why this style isn’t part of mine, but part of your artwork …hmmm.

Cheers

Sorry Thomas in not quite sure what you’re telling me to paste in nor where to place it. Is there anyway to explain that to me again?

I am not seeing any excess space either, or not to my taste at least, just a few lines between the post and the author, then a few lines to the next post.

It is possible to reduce the space, on one of the other threads you posted on, (I am sorry, at the moment I have very little bandwidth to search), Joe posted a solution to changing the style.

As Thomas has indicated you need to create a style called “.post-footer” and then set the attributes. If you can find the other thread the response is very clear.

If you don’t have a satisfactory solution in a day or so I will see if I can get access to more internet and post again!

Cheers,

Peter
