Hi! Because Yahoo changed their security protocols (a good thing) I am having trouble uploading my site because I don’t know what I’m supposed to put in the upload dialog box. I just got off the phone with a very nice man from Yahoo, but he had me downloading all kinds of FTP apps and nothing was working except Filezilla, but it was too hard for me. Stop laughing. It’s true. Freeway was so easy before… I just clicked a button and off it went! Yes, I’m whining.
I can’t be the only dumb designer that had some issues with the new FTP/FTPS stuff going on. Can someone please help me?
Take a look at the connection dialog in FileZilla. Without telling us what the actual user/password are, please write down exactly what you see in that form: field label, field value. Here’s what Freeway 6’s upload dialog looks like for example:
Server: [server address] Port: [tcp/ip port]
Directory: [location on the server]
User name: [authenticated user]
Password: [uh, password]
Web Address: [optional, needed for some Actions mostly]
FTP Mode: [Automatic/Passive/Non-Passive]
Make a little ASCII-gram like that one of the FileZilla dialog, and we’ll try to sort you out.

In case it isn’t clear, don’t just put the descriptions in there as I did, put your actual values for each field – whatever it is called – and elide the actual password and username.

Maybe I should have said originally that when I upload from Freeway I get a message that says "Cannot complete upload because an operation timed out. [421 Sorry, cleartext sessions are not accepted on this server.]
We are aware of this in Software Support at Softpress, and we expect there to be a fix sometime soon in a future update. Until then, however, you will need to upload using a dedicated FTP app. We tend to favor the free Cyberduck app http://cyberduck.ch, as this means that everyone uses the same app and we can give specific details for what to use in each field.
After installing and then launching Cyberduck, click on the “Open Connection” button and choose “FTP-SSL (Explicit AUTH TLS)” in the top popup, then enter your Server name, Username and Password as supplied to you by Yahoo. You should be able to leave the Port field set to the default of 21.
When you click on the Connect button you will probably see an alert asking for a “certificate”. As this is a stop-gap solution, we recommend clicking on Continue rather than resolving the error (as this may have implications once the fix has been released in Freeway).
If you are more familiar with a different FTP app (such as Filezilla, Fetch, Transmit, etc.) then feel free to use the one of your own preference. We simply suggest Cyberduck as we can all use the same terminology for the required information.
