fuzzy text in menus in edit mode

This isn’t terribly important — just an odd quirk that I would not mind having explained, if an explanation is available.

I have a CSS menu box defined on my master pages and used without further alteration on the child pages. Of course there are other blocks of text on the pages, as well.

The problem is that the text in the CSS menu item is fuzzy. Not sure how else to describe it. It’s not that it’s antialiased; the Mac normally does a fine job of that. It’s just fuzzy, as if it had been badly traced on a piece of tracing paper, or as if it were printed on paper that bled the ink a bit, something like that.

All the other text on the pages is fine — normal, fairly sharp Mac OS X text.

The menus look fine in preview and on the web. It’s just when I’m working on the pages that this is visible. I find it mildly disconcerting and would fix it if I could. But I’m asking mainly because I expect I’ll learn something useful if someone can suggest a cause.

Thanks in advance.
