Generate .htaccess File from Freeway

Hi All,

Does anyone have any suggestions on how we could create our .htaccess file inside of freeway? Maybe an action that stripped all tags out or a way to upload an invisible file.

Thanks for you suggestions,

TeamSDA_Christian

ftp clients are the only way to upload a .htaccess file, or any other kind of hidden file that i’m aware of. Also it is strictly a plain text file.

You cannot create a file with a leading full stop on your Mac (without it disappearing)

It has to be uploaded and then changed on the server.

…actually, you can do it within Transmit’s own editing feature before uploading. That’s what I use.

I’ve looked at creating a simple Action to do this but the Actions API doesn’t allow files that start with a period to be attached to a file control for upload. I did get a version working where the file was uploaded and then called a script on the server to change the file name but he chances of this running without error were always slim.
The closest you can get is to use an Action like Upload Stuff [1] and use an FTP client to rename the file after Freeway has uploaded it.

Tim.

Thanks guys for your input.

Tim, I’d like to introduce myself, I’m Christian and I work with Dave. So an action for the .htaccess file is a no go for today. What about a way to accomplish the robots.txt file, since there won’t be any invisibilities issues.

Thanks,

Christian

Hi Christian,
Unfortunately the leading period at the beginning of the htaccess file name prevents me from doing anything with them from an Action. Robots.txt files on the other hand are fine and can be created and uploaded directly from an Action interface. Let me know if this is something you want to do and I’ll see if I can find an Action to help.
Regards,
Tim.
