GoDaddy

I have a question for those of you who use GoDaddy. I’m doing some
work for a GD customer and the client is telling me that in order for
me to have cPanel access to their domain I need to create my own GD
account which the client will then somehow link to their own account
thereby giving me access. Really? I’ve never had to do this with other
hosts. Normally the client gives me their credentials and bingo, I’m
in. No mess, no fuss. Geez, the last thing I want is to start getting
annoying emails from GD just for the sake of doing some work.

I just logged into a client’s GoDaddy account and they do have “people” called “AccountExecs” which is:

“Invite someone to manage your product accounts. To appoint an AccountExec, simply enter their email address and click Invite. They will receive an email invitation, and upon accepting, will be added to your AccountExec Members list.”

BUT…the Administrator (client) of the cPanel has to manually invite you using the form in the sidebar. This will then create an account for you in that cPanel and they can then revoke your privileges when they deem necessary.

I just clicked on lots of stuff and I don’t see anything for account linking. This account uses a Linux server and is on a Shared Hosting account type, but I’m on the Administrator account and I don’t see anything.

If you do find something, let me know.

Might be useful for future reference.

ALSO, you have to write a hack out to get ExpressionEngine working on GoDaddy. Took me 6 hours to figure that out. Just a heads up for anyone who might happen to read this.

Hi Dan,

Well, I did receive an email (invite) when the client added my email
address to be an Exec… There was a link that when clicked goes to a
login page but what I (we) can’t figure out is how do I login when I
don’t have a username/password? The only option seems to be if I
create my own GD account with un/pw. Seems odd.
