Google Map

Could you advise me how we get “Site Key” for incorporating google maps in
our site as a required parameter under FW5.5?

I could successfully incorporate google maps under FW6/7 on trial basis
without using Site Key, but I failed to get serial number of FW7 just
before closing door of Softpress.

Hey Haruki,

this has been a common occurrence ever since Google changed the map terms on June 22nd, not just for Freeway. This seems to work for Sparkle users:

  • go to https://console.developers.google.com
  • log in to your account
  • click on “Library” on the left
  • click "Google Maps JavaScript API”
  • click on “Enable”
  • click on “Credentials” on the left
  • click on “Create credentials” then “API key”
  • click on “Browser key”
  • click on “Create”

the popup shows the API Key which you can copy/paste.

Hello Duncan, thanks for prompt advice,

However although I got and put an API key, more than 20 characters, to
“Site key” column
according to your suggestion, I did not succeed in insertion of Google
Maps and I got such error message as follows,

“Oops, something went wrong, This page didn’t load Google Maps correctly,
see the Javascript console for technical details.”
This is the same situation as was last year and I dare used trial FW6/7 at
that moment.

I successfully got still image of Google Maps in the map area of my site
and I am sure internet connection has no problem.

I am very sorry to say that I am not familiar with Javascript etc. and I
have no idea to
confirm the reason why this happened. Even if my FW5.5 may have some
problems, there would be no way to download again.

Again, advise me if there could be any possible solution under such
situation in my side?

This can mean different things, and the error is as mentioned in the Javascript console. If you show me the live site I can tell you how, or you need to open the javascript console which generally shows just a single line with the error.

However if you followed the instructions from the previous email you should end up with a working map.

I am sorry I have no idea how to detect Javascript console on FW.

I am sorry I have no idea how to detect Javascript console on FW.

You dont do it within FW but using a Browser and Developer Tools.

If you can post a link to your online example we can have a look for you.
