Howdy, I am just playing around with getting my site optimised for Google as learn’t from BeFound.
My question is this. How long does it take to be ranked (reasonably high) in google. I’m not expecting miracles obviously and I know alot is determined to site content etc.
My thoughts were it would take around 3-4 months. Is this along the right lines?
Site looks nice, but would help if you make the index page text ALL html and not gifs i.e portfolio…etc and your name!
SEO Spiders will simple not read the image file and see it as just an file, however you can name the image in the inspector pallete under alt text, this will help too! rather than it being image1 etc etc…

If your site deserves to be ranked highly in relevant searches - in
Google’s eyes, remember - then it could be a matter of weeks rather
than months. But that’s a best-case scenario, not something I’d rely
on at all.
Do all you can in terms of sensible optimising; make sure you use as
much HTML text as possible in preference to graphic text, add
meaningful titles to pages, links, etc., make all alt text sensible
and useful, and so on. You’ve already read the Be Found article at Be Found - design findable web sites that get ranked with the best - that should get you under way.

Also, an updated site is a happy site. Keep your site updated as
regularly as possible and it will go up the ranks. This takes time
though so be patient.
Finally, get as many links from other highly ranked sites to your site
(this isn’t always possible).
