Gradient backgrounds

Is there any tutorial on creating gradient backgrounds? I want to create one, black to white, top to bottom, extending as wide as the browser opens to and as deep as necessary for my pages. Thanks.

Use the Action - Fill Master. Apply to a graphic box the height of your FW page and about 20px wide.

Use the selectors to pick the colours you want to fade to and from. Use a linear fill with a 90deg angle.

Once you have the graphic how you like it choose File>Export and save it as a jpeg into your Media folder.

Then with nothing selected on your page look under the Paintbrush tab in the inspector and navigate to your bg image you just created using the Image selector.

Then set Horizontal: Tile and Vertical:Top

You can then delete the graphic from the FW page (or keep it on the pasteboard in case you want to tweak it some more) and you are done.

Well now you can do it without leaving FW.

One thing that you might want to look at is the Anti-aliasing of the Beacon Hills graphic text, tree logo etc.

If you have AA set to auto (3rd tab in the Graphic Item inspector) then you can get dodgy results when you are anti-aliasing over a background image like this.

If you use the Auto selector (theres that word again) to manually choose a colour that is close (or the same) as the background colour then you will get a better effect. This is because the FW auto setting is unaware of the actual colour content of your BG image.
