Graphic Designer vs client

This link was passed to me this morning…

We were sent that yesterday. We’re thinking of incorporating into a
new client induction process.

The funny thing is, it is a real situation that I have gone through
sooooo many times. Along with the 72dpi 2cm square image the the
client would like as a backdrop on an exhibition stand.

There is definitely a HUGE communication gap between graphic design and clients. We have had this battle for years in the print world. Still the same gap in the web world.

We even write everything out for our clients telling them exactly what we need, why we need it, and why it won’t work if materials aren’t supplied correctly. And 90% of the time, it’s still wrong.

We had a client that had dozens pf Photoshopped “photos” where backgrounds and people were combined. People shot in a studio and backgrounds from original photos. They wanted us to replace all the backgrounds. We said, sure, just give us the layered PS files. We waited weeks for the files and when we get them, all the PS files were flattened! Needless to say, a fairly straightforward job was made quite difficult.
