Growl & FreeWay

Does anyone know if FreeWay is set up to do Growl notifications? I’d
like for growl to alert me when an upload is finished. I’ve searched
Google and not come up with anything, but I’d be surprised if FreeWay
is not “growl aware.” Anyone know more?

Hi Doty,
Freeway can’t do this directly although you can control both Freeway and Growl
using AppleScript. It should be quite a trivial task to write a script that
uploads your site and then asks Growl to post a notification.
If you need help with putting this together I should have some time later in the
week to look at it.

To have an option of an audio notification on completed upload would be a
simple thing to include as an option in the next update Softpress - no?

Or, if Freeway followed iWeb’s lead and licensed the Transmit engine
for S/FTP, then they would get Growl for “free”.

Hi Tim,

I’m impressed! Although it probably is trivial, I’ve never taken the
time to learn AppleScript. (how embarrassing…!) Anyway, if you have
time, that would be great.

I live in a rural area and sometimes have a lot of trouble uploading
my site changes. It is infuriating to think that FreeWay is ticking
along in the background only to find it’s been stuck for an hour and I
didn’t know it. Growl notifications would be so sweet!
