Has any one else had problems contacting James at Have Host?
I have been having problems with a the MySQL server giving a 500 Internal Server error, and raised a ticket about a week ago for Have Host to have a look at the server to see if there was a misconfiguration with it, but as yet I haven’t had any replies.
The problem still persists. I’ve run the query on the server through phpMyAdmin and it works, copied that to the Freeway page and it returns the error. It is seriously affecting the site that I’m in the process of updating and so far I have spent about a week trying to get the problem resolved.
The version of MySQL running on the server is 5.0.96 which is not the latest. Also the MySQL error logs seem to be missing, I have had a good look around on the root directory, but cannot find them.
I think it might be time to change Hosting providers to something more easily accessible, but that also has its problems…
This level of service is not good enough, if this doesn’t get resolved soon I will have to change hosting, just so that I can get back to earning money!
Sorry for the rant, but I’ve lost so much time on this I think enough is enough.
I raised a ticket, about the boring regularity the service goes cloud
cuckoo, a couple of days ago and got a response from James.
I also suggested he contact all his customers, to them everyone know the
problems … I don’t think it’s up to me to post his reply here.

I raised the ticket at the support part of the Have-Host site and I also raised one that went to the zendesk address as well as sending a couple of emails to James.
As you can appreciate I first raised this last week and since then I have not had any response what so ever, so you can see why I’m a bit fed up with it all.
I’ll let you know when and if I get firstly an acknowledgement and then a solution to the problem that I’m having.
Thanks for you replies.
Cheers,
Steve (keeping his fingers crossed which makes typing a bit more challenging!)
Just as an update I’ve found out that the Have-Host mail server has been blacklisted by Spamcop. I tried to send a couple of emails to a client and they got returned because the mail server was blacklisted.
Has anyone else noticed this?
According to the Spamcop website in the past 17.4 days Have-host have been blacklisted 3 times for a total of 2.6 days.
Oh well, I’ll have to use my dot mac address to send emails until this is resolved.
James is on the case with the Spamcop Blacklisting. He has also said he’ll look into the MySQL problem for me which might need a software update on the servers so I call that a good start!
He did say they they had been inundated with about 4 million emails in the last 72hrs! I think it’ll take while to read them all.
So I think things should start to get back to normal soon.
Mail for some domains are getting through in a “flash” but others are
not getting through al all.
I’m also able on those domains to send a message to a non-existant
email/domain account and not getting any bounce, wheres I do for ones I
m receiving mail for.
Is anyone else seeing similar problems.
Exasperated of Oxford!
