Could not save “my site.freeway” because of end of file. (-39:114:9935)
“Save As” didn’t do it either. :-/
I won’t be able to revisit this until late today but any thoughts would be helpful. Of course I do save numbered versions as I go but not sure what my last save point was.
Is there any chance that your drive is simply out of space? Do you have anything you can jettison in the way of ballast (ripped DVDs are a good choice, assuming you still have the disc).

Sounds to me like the drive you are trying to save to has some sort of error, or the program can not write to the drive. . Is it possible to drive and save to external drive to see if you could save there?
I created a new blank site/folder/document - and copy/pasted everything over into the the new one. Save worked fine.
Now I can feel OK about closing the original one without losing whatever work in progress couldn’t/hadn’t been saved. It doesn’t address whatever happened, but good enough for now.
UGH - it hit me again today. After not being able to save changes to the original file, then copy pasting everything into a new file to save my work, I returned to it after a shut down and restart - copy/pasting the changes from the new file and dropping them back into the original file (which originally wouldn’t save at all). I updated some Exhibeo references since but that’s it.
At that point, trying to save a new version failed again. Same story, regardless of various creative attempts to save it, none worked. The site uploads fine FWIW - http://www.karenengelphotography.com
I’m just hoping at this point it’s not anything other than a corrupted .freeway file or a bug. I might just try reinstalling Freeway if it persists through another .freeway file.
Looks like my next step is to abandon the original file entirely and work from the copy/pasted version only from now on and hope it behaves. :-/
BTW - Copy/paste didn’t bring everything over - like upload settings, broken CSS menus etc. which is the reason I went back to the original file in the first place.
“Have you sent your file to support @softpress.com”
Maybe I need to write to this email address directly. I used the Softpress support area web form regarding this issue and wrote 3 times since this thread began, and never received a response. :-/
Just an update to this thread with the response from Softpress (which incidentally took 1 week on the 2nd attempt - they must be getting inundated over there!)
No replies necessary, just in case someone else searches the list for help with this issue… (unsolved for me but I’ve moved on for now) I did not have issues with missing resources FWIW.
First thing to do is to go to Edit>Resources and then look through the list of resources to see if any have a “Status” of “Missing”. If you find any, select each resource one at a time, click Edit, click Locate and then relink to the original resource file.
Relink to all the missing resources you can find and then click on the Update All button and click OK when Freeway asks if you wish to “detach” any missing resources.
Now I recommend that you make an “archive” of your site project, as this will give you a fresh, clean Site Folder into which you can now publish all your site files. To do this, open your Freeway file and go to File>Save Archive, choose a name and a location for where to save the archive folder then save it to your hard disk. Close the current Freeway file and work on the Freeway file in the archive folder from now on.
Creating an archive will give you an archive folder which contains the Freeway file, a fresh clean Site Folder (which will be empty until you first publish your site) and a folder called “Media” which contains all the resources used in your site project - so backing up the archive folder is the best way to save regular backups of your work.
The only things which are not saved when you save an archive are galleries/slideshows made in Showcase and Exhibeo. Showcase has its own Save Archive function, and we recommend you make an archive of each of your galleries/slideshows and then save them (along with the original .spg and .fwgallery files) in a separate folder within the archive folder. For Exhibeo we recommend you save the .exhibeo and .xbExport files along with copies of all the images you imported into Exhibeo galleries so they will also be contained within the archive folder.
See if fixing your missing resources and making an archive folder to work with fixes your problem (as it often does). If not, please get back in touch - and let us know if you have any EPS files that you have imported into your Freeway file).
I have a slight problem with freeway and my showcase galleries. I have changed my drive that I keep my website folders on and my sowcase galleries will not link back to the images. The showcase files are not recognising the new directory. It is still looking for the old drive.
The route directory has changed but the sub directories are still exactly the same.
How can I automatically re-link the showcase files within the new directory? - I don’t want to have to do each gallery seperately, there are loads of them…
Any thoughts, cheers,
Neil
