I’ve tried to keep up to date and even contribute (where I can) to the Freeway community over the years, but I’m really struggling with this new format.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but I like a forum.
I’m really at pains to have a pop about the current format - as I know it was born from many of the kindest and most giving Freewayer’s, but It ain’t working for me.
Regardless, I am, and still remain a kung fu king of all things Softpress.
What are you looking for? It’s not a bad forum, and that’s how I’ve been using it. It probably does work better as an email list, but Walter has been very responsive at implementing features to make those who like forums more happy.
That’s what this is, isn’t it? Or do you mean more like a BBS ie. Compuserve etc., or a Listserve? In any event, I wasn’t around before this forum format - it’s OK and does the job, I like the fact that you can skim and only pick out posts that you find relevant instead of getting a whole email blast of every post…but - here come the feature requests…
“Show all user’s posts” would be very helpful for rediscovering that great tip someone gave you once…
Search results could be sub-searchable
Search results could be user sortable (ascending/descending date, title only, body, author)
“Go to page” 1, 2, 3, 4,…Next - instead of one page forward/backward movement only…
That’s enough for now…I understand that this forum really does come from an email list origin, and even without full state of the art forum features it does OK by me. YMMV
