Whenever I create a colored box (HTML) then place text (HTML) over the top when I view in a browser the text has moved to the left and is no longer on top of the box??? THIS IS DRIVING ME MENTAL!! Its such a basic request? What can I be doing wrong?? Even a table does the same thing?? I think it may have something to do with the above being near the side of the webpage??
Please please help!

Why not put the text in your colored html box rather than floating another over it? The extra text box seems to me an unnecessary extra step, but I do not know what you are trying to do on your web page.

yep tried that, same result - I just want text sitting in a colored box, the box bleeds off the side of the page…
