HEMA WebSite

It may well be that this Site http://producten.hema.nl/ has been seen and discussed on the Freeway List in the past, but I have only just come across it, and although normally, I am not impressed with sound and movie opening pages, the Designer has gone to considerable lengths on this page. It certainly did succeed in capturing my attention, to the extent that were it for a UK business, I might well have wanted to know more about the business and it’s products. What more could a Company and it’s Web Designer ask?

Out of interest, would I be right in assuming this would have been achieved with some sophisticated use of Flash animation, and although well beyond my skill levels, could a similar page be designed within Freeway?

Hi Neil,

Yep the animation is clever, if a little annoying  You are right in
assuming it’s Flash (ctrl/right click on the page and look at the last
entry in the contextual menu), and yes, you can bring the Flash file
into Freeway without a problem. The only difficulty really is learning
Flash and making something look as good as that, Flash isn’t one of
those apps you can just open up and do something with unfortunately.

Flash is a very complex thing and you need months to really get a good understanding about. I guess that less people using Freeway to speed up website creation are interested in learning the complex programming language that sits behind Flash.

Anyway, the shop is nicely done. Just wonder if there is an alternative shop frontend for those having disabled/not installed Flash ?
