Host-it upload issue

Hiya,

I have always used ineedwebhosting for my sites but my client has an account with host-it here in the UK that they want me to use until their renewal comes up.

I’m a bit lost with the upload settings. The site seems to be in a directory called /wwwroot, rather than the public_html. I have the username and password but no luck. I cant find any info on the host-it web site.

Anyone have any experience of this, I think they use HELM as the CP.

Thanks in advance

nige

It should be as simple as

Server: www.yoursite.com

Directory: /wwwroot/

Username: yourusername

Password: yourpassword

Hi David,

Thanks. I had tried that but no luck. It may be that user name and password are wrong. I had assumed that they are the same of the username and password that allow me into the CP.

Thank you

Can you get into the Cpanel?

If so then you can create a new FTP account and use that.

Hi David,

Thanks for that. I have created my own ftp account now but there is still a problem with the directory. I think it should be wwwroot but freeway gives me this error message:

[550 /wwwroot: The system cannot find the file specified]

Note the /wwwroot rather than the one i used wwwroot?

Thanks in advance

But what I would do is try and connect with an FTP app and see where that takes you.

Hi,

I tried cyberduck. I can get to look in the folder structure and upload things, but I don’t have permission to delete the site files that are already in there.

It sounds like the ftp account that you can access doesn’t have full privileges.

I think that this will require a support ticket to host-it

HI,

Just to update, I have been pinging emails back and forth all day and I finally have full access to my site. I have no idea what the issue was but I do suspect it was there end.

Now I have to do a manual upload with filezilla, but I’m not sure what files I need to upload. I can’t find the site folder with the usual files/folders css, resources and the pages ect??

Thanks

Why cant you use FW?

The site folder is set in File>Document Setup in the middle of the section under the Document Tab.

You can always create a new site folder in the Finder and then use the Select button to choose it.

All the files in the site folder (after publishing your pages) should be FTP’d to the server but I would urge you to use FW for the upload if at all possible.

It will save you a lot of hassle over missed files in the future.
