Hosting Companies

Hi all,

I have a question about SSL and FREEWAY.

Godaddy emailed me that “Congrats, I now own an SSL certificate” and to view it click…

https://hoffkids.com (notice the https)

but my current URL is…

so I called them and asked them how to have everyone view the https site and secure lock etc. They said I am now ready but I have to do something in FREEWAY to get this to appear for everyone.

Does anyone know what I have to do in Freeway to make this happen on next upload?

Thanks.

Thinking of and missing Dave!

Barry

Hi,

Should not have to do anything in Freeway! Just wait for DNS caches to update. This can take several days. If you still do not see the little green padlock then check how GoDaddy has implemented it in case you need to tweak the server side settings.

Steve,

Just having a SSL certificate does nothing by itself. You need to instruct visitors to your site to load the site using https://. Otherwise anyone can load the site without https. Typically links google.

You’d need (for a start) to add a .htaccess file and include the following…

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{ENV:HTTPS} !=on
RewriteRule (.*) https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L]

Then make sure any linked resources in your site loads under https:// also
