Housekeeping

I’m sorry but I really can’t work this out, I have a master page with lots of nav buttons on it and the site panel is looking really crowded now with so many items in it, can I create a folder (or something) to make it more manageable ? (I’ve found a ‘new folder’ buttons but that creates one under the ‘site’ folder (and I can’t drag the list into it anyway) thanks for your time … Roger

Hi Roger

When you say ‘site panel’ I am assuming that you are looking at the site panel in ‘Page’ view ie Page along the top as opposed to Site along the top.

In Page view every single item that is on the page is listed down the LHS so that any of these items can be selected whether you can actually see them on your working page or not. There is now way of subdividing these as the list directly relates to how these items appear on the page.

In site view what you see listed is all the different pages that you have in your site. This is where adding a new folder works. If you add a new folder then you can put pages into that folder. So if you wanted a site structure like yoursite.com/clients/index.html then you would add a new folder in the site panel with the name clients and put an index.html file(page) in there.

Hope this helps

David

In Page view there are two ways of making the site panel more manageable, depending on your needs.

  1. Click on the cogwheel at the bottom of the panel and choose “Show Pages” if you only want to see a list of pages.

  2. If “Show Items” is selected, you can click on any of the little triangles to the left of the page icons to show or hide the icons for the items on a page. This works fine for the master page.

Thank you both so much, Dave that wasn’t something I’d thought of using but will help with my current project and Michael … ah the little cog, at some time I must have hit that and created my dilemma, thanks again Roger
