Do you type the word ‘Blank’ on the Field target?

Just choose _blank (with the leading underscore) from the list of
default targets. The leading underscore is critical for this to work
as expected.

You have to open the Hyperlink dialog – you can’t access this
property from the little globe picker at the bottom of the Freeway
window. About two thirds of the way down this dialog, you will see a
combo-box picker called Target. You need to select a value from that
list or type in a custom value if the option you want isn’t in the
list. Choose _blank from the list and you’ll get what you want.

Note that Strict doctypes do not support the Target attribute, but the
Transitional ones do. If you have set your page to XHTML Strict or
HTML 4 Strict, you will need to change this in the Output tab of the
Page Inspector before you will be able to set anything in the Target
field.
