How is this done?

As this effect is in flash does anyone have a step by step guide on how something similar could be done in EWA?

Hi Noel,
I had a quick look at this last week and although my example is close
to what you wanted to achieve I ended up making the dial change when
the links were clicked rather than moused over.

Here’s the example and EWA file download;
http://www.freewayactions.com/test/ewa/dial/

The issue I had was that the click sound would repeat endlessly for
some reason when I tried to do this with rollovers.
I suspect I’m missing something quite obvious. Download the file and
have a play with it and see if you can build on this for your project.
Regards,
Tim.

Genius! Many, many thanks for your help. I’m a complete novice on EWA so this will be a good way to learn about it.

I know… its an EWA topic, but since Tim is at it … it does remind me of a topic with a compas… ( do you remember Tim??) ok, its Freeway and not EWA, but it quit looks the same to me…
sorry for hacking the topic.

Yes, I see what you mean.
Here’s that compass again;

The dial example and the compass are essentially the same thing in EWA
as you would simply change the images.

Tim.

According to the manual, I cannot add any content of my own and am stuck with the images they provide. This makes it worthless for anything beyond dogs chasing balls. I would like to use it for scientific and teaching animations, but it doesn’t look as if that is possible

Hi Mike,
The manual is something I’m hoping to address as there is a lot that
it doesn’t cover and somethings, like images, that it skims past.

You can add your own images to any EWA project simply by using the
Items/ Add Items/ Images menu. I would suggest you use 24 bit PNGs
where possible as the images will come in with true transparency
although you should be able to add most web ready file formats (JPGs
for example).

I find the View/ Panel/ Material menu (Command-E) very helpful for
hiding the dogs, balls and other ‘images’.

Let me know if you need any guidance with your project. Also be sure
to let us see what you manage to create with the application as it
would be good to create a gallery of user submitted animations.

All the best,
Tim.

So, the statement in the FAQ at the end
I want to add my own image into the “Material Panel”
You cannot add any image to the material panel.

seems somewhat misleading to say the least.

Thanks for the info, I will try a couple of initial projects

Hi Mike,
The content in the Material panel is there as a read only resource.
It’s there so you can easily pull content into your projects without
having to go via the Items/ Add Items/ Image… menu route.
Unfortunately most of the content in the panel isn’t suitable for the
work I do so it stays hidden from view.
Regards,
Tim.
