How to bin the cell grid lines in tables (Pro 4)

Sorry still on 4 but never bothered with tables before.

I can see how to change the background colour of the cell, but not how to make the actual very strong lines of the table go away. I thought I’d just set them to (page colour) white, but I can’t see how or where.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks

Aha! I knew it had to be something simple - many thanks David.

While I’m here - can anyone explain why the page layout (which I’ve fiddled with as big zoom level to get exactly right, is all out of whack in preview and publish in browser (this happens quite a lot, actually, but it’s more of a problem than usual in this case).

I’d upload some grabs, but I can’t see how…

I’m a bit confused as to what your issue is. Do you mean the preview (or browser) interpretation of your site does not match your ‘work’ in Freeway? If so, there are many reasons why this will happen depending on how you have contracted your layout.

Could you upload some screen grabs to something like dropbox so we could have a look for you, or try to explain it in full?

Neil.

yes, page view and preview view are different - even after restarting FW (there is some kind of cache issue with preview - it always goes wrong after the first use). the layout in firefox and chrome are the same as the preview layout.

I merely had some graphic files (with text in) lined up with the cells of a table - not even touching or overlapping. Perfect in page view, but badly aligned in the other three.

I have in fact found a workaround (putting the graphic files into the top row of the table), but I’d like to know the reason if possible.

As I said I was aiming to upload some screengrabs, but I don’t see any browse button…?

Many thanks

Others here could advise on how to upload a screen grab (I haven’t a clue) but use something like Dropbox to host the pics and send link instead, then we can see your issue exactly.

The Page looks like

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/63372423/FW1.tiff

but the Preview is like this

Click once on the table element, and look in the Inspector. In the first tab, in the Cells segment, make sure that the border, cell spacing, and padding are all set to 0. Preview again.

If you want a single-pixel gray border on your table cells, you need to do a little bit of hand-coding.

Thanks.

That’s a confusing one - how have you constructed the coloured text blocks? I think with something complex like this, I’d of maybe used something like Illustrator to lay it out and place it as an image in FW. Either that, or just built all of it (coloured text blocks as well) as one table split into cells?

Well, my first try was to just list the titles in the top row (as I since eventually managed to do)*, but I could not get the text to run down, as on a book spine. So I just did what I always do - a bunch of small thin graphic rectangles with text in and a coloured background, and then another bunch of tall graphic rectangles with no text for the vertical link.

I could have made it as a graphic, of course, but I want to be able to edit the text as the project develops. I’d have to remake the thing every time if I did it in another program and imported

(*the solution was to make the bunch of coloured text boxes, rotate them, then copy and paste into the top row of the table).
