How to create an interactive main image like on Softpress'

I’ve always thought that Freeway’s automatic image type selection was
quite accurate.

It generally is. The process is quite simple: if the image is 24-bit colour then it is assumed to be best output as a JPEG. If it is 8-bit colour or less (indexed colour) then it is assumed to be best output as a GIF. Almost all of the time this is correct, and it is totally reliable. If you want something different then it is simple to fix in the Inspector.

PNG is not generally as space-efficient as GIF or JPEG (although it can sometimes be better), and there have been compatibility issues with browsers. That’s getting better, but GIF and JPEG remain the two core graphic formats for web production.
