Ok Im trying to follow along and get some text displayed well. So far I have been able to figure out how to change the style on the p for the html box and added 3px space after & 3px space before. Then I “paste and match style” the text into the box. Showed correctly in freeeway without all the breaks, in Safari no luck.
thatkieth, you mentioned changing some of the formatting in word. How do you make the formatting visible on the page or get at it. I found the find/replace area but how do you enter in a hard return or soft return to replace it wih something different.
Thanks.
in word, When importing to freeway however it shows all of the
and makes the document one continuos flow as it doesn’t seem to recognize the tag. Couldn’t understand how to do the soft return one to . Is there a code for soft return? I may just go ahead and type it up in Freeway its only a 3 page doc. Anyone have any advice for the future, would be awesome, seems like something that should be added to the next version of FW, cutting and pasting text would be nice to keep simple.
I tried that one just now although it did condense everything it made it easier to add shift + return soft returns instead of deleting all the hard returns first. However in the output in a browser all of the space/tabs are collapsed unlike in word. If you do know of a way to preserve the tabs/ spaces that would be great. Otherwise back to formatting it all from scratch.
I requested to softpress to add some kind of functionality here, because they do advertise FW as being non technical and I am on my 5th hour of scouring the web researching and tweaking things, that could be taken care of, it seems by having a button in the inspector pallete that converts a return to a shift + return in the html box. Maybe thats hard to code but if its not then they have seriously been dropping the ball. It should not be so painful to import a little bloody text.

Agreed, but it is Word text we are talking about.
Personally I do all my double spacing, line break removal etc. in BBEdit - with its powerful find/replace tools it is a breeze - after all it is a text editing program.
FW is great for building pages but I dont use it for this sort of job that is handled faster, smarter and easier in an app built for the job.
