HTML text box vs Gif box

Does anyone know if text is read as an image (vs. HTML) when put it into a gif box (using the tool which says “draw graphic item” when the cursor is held over it)? I noticed that I can use either the HTML text box tool or the Gif text box tool to create a box that I can place text into.

thanks!

GIF text is just that – a picture of text. Freeway automatically creates alt text for each picture to match whatever you’ve typed in it, which gives a search engine something to chew on, but alt text is not treated as seriously as actual text by most search engines. Further, using large amounts of graphical text is going to make your site larger (in file size) than it would be as HTML.
