I want Advice on Reviving an Old Freeway Pro Site

Hey everyone,

I dug up an old website I built years ago using Freeway Pro & I am trying to bring it back to life. The issue is that I no longer have the original Mac I used to design it & I am not sure what the best approach is to update or modify the site.

I still have the published files but without the Freeway document i am guessing I can not properly edit it in Freeway again—right?? Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is there a way to reconstruct the site in Freeway using just the exported files or am I better off rebuilding it from scratch in a different tool?

Also, is Freeway still a good option for modern websites or should I consider alternatives? I want to hear what others have done when dealing with older Freeway-built sites.

Also i have check this-https://discourse.softpress.com/t/pro-retrieving-a-website-back-into-freeway
Thank you…

Hi Suzen,

If you are running a recent-ish version of macOS (anything from Mojave on), I’d suggest looking at Xway, which is our replacement for Freeway.

Xway can import content from Freeway documents, although that won’t help you if you don’t have the Freeway document. You can also copy and paste content from a browser: see Appendix 4 in the Xway User Guide (which is available from Xway’s Help menu).

Xway can be used as a fully-functional trial version for 30 days.

Hello Suzen!

I used the Parallels Desktop virtual machine to work with FreeWay Pro. In which I installed Mojave, inside which I installed Freeway Pro.
This is how I maintain old projects.
Unfortunately, the projects that I have implemented in FreeWay cannot be replicated in Xway.

Anatoli.
