iFrame and JAlbum, strange text on the page?

Good morning friends.
I can use a bit of expert help here
I had to make a kind of portfolio for a friend of mine on her new site and after trying out carousel, I decided that in this case it would be much easier to do it with JAlbum.
So then on the page I inserted an iFrame and did de necessary linking.
When I look at the published page however, there is some unwanted text all over the page and I have no idea how what is the cause of this…
If anyone could give me some tips here, it would mean a lot to me.
THX
Johny

I presume you added a markup item to insert the Jalbum.

If you look at the referenced page at http://www.krislinvettik.be/making/index.html you will see that the captions on some of the pics are gibberish and very long.

These are overflowing out of your iFrame - sort these and you should be fine.

I fixed the image names, but that was not the solution !
I had to change the background of the page from HTML to a GIF, … strange.
And no, I did not use a markup item to insert the Jalbum, I would not know hos to do that and why ? Please explain that to me, thanks

Hi

I too would be interested in any views on the best /correct way to insert a porfolio using Jalbum.
I built the site below in Jalbum using the Simple Viewer. On publishing this produces a file with the following in it.

gallery.html /gallery.xml/index.html/ plus three files labeled slides/thumbs/ res (in this last one is found viewer.swf/swfobject.js and 160x41_Get_Flash_Player.jpg/

This whole package gets uploaded to the Jalbum site and can be linked to from there but you can, and I do, ftp the package to a file on the site’s serveur. I then enter its URL into an iFrame and voila - the portfolio. Subsequent updates to the portfolio are a breeze if you remember to save the jalbum file settings - drag and drop, add, remove, save, upload

But is this the best route or could it be placed on/in a page without the iFrame and if yes how? And is it beter to do so?

Regards

Wel Cornelie, ik denk dat het werken met Iframe inderdaad de eenvoudigste oplossing is, maar wie ben ik? Mooie site heb je trouwens

Well, Cornelie, to my humble opinion, working with Iframe is one of the easiest ways to insert an Jalbum generated slideshow into a page.

Glad you you included the translation! Cornelie, my client, tries to get me to understand Dutch with little success. Her latest wheeze was to host the site with a Rotterdam company which makes the job of managing the site entertaining. And yes I agree Jalbum + iFrame is an easy way for this codephobe but I just wondered if it was best practice.

I had to change the background of the page from HTML to a GIF, …… strange.

Which page the Jalbum page or the page with the iFrame? And what do you mean about changing the background - not clear what you actually did here.

@DeltaDave : on my master page I use a background image (black). On top of that I have a HTML item in a different colot that acts as the actual site surface.
So, when on a page, I insert a Iframe inside that HTML box, it is not working properly ! Its that HTML item I had to change to a GIF and the place the Iframe on top of that in order to make it work. See: http://www.krislinvettik.be/portfolio.html

I stumbled into a different problem;

On the second portfolio I made for that site, out of nowhere there came a small text link above the thumbnails: " home" , and its active as well ! When I click on it, the homepage of the site becomes visible in the iFrame ?
I looked over and over again in the lightbox2 skin of JAlbum but there I do not find anything…
And in the iFrame action pop-up there is nothing like it.
A complete mystery to me: you can see it here http://www.krislinvettik.be/makingof.html

Hi, I have just started using JAlbum with iFrame and had the same problem. The solution is in the left column: (1) In JAlbum, click on the icon next to the skin name drop down menu - this will take you to the skin settings. (2) Click on the the button at the top, to the right of “Advanced”. (3) Here you should see a tick box for “Add parent link”. Untick this and you will remove the text link above the thumbnails: “home”. Hope this helps. David

Thx for you’re reply David.
Unfortunately for me, I do not find the “add parent link” tick box !
In JAlbum, I use the lightbox2 skin.
I checked every tab and cannot find it anywhere.
The button in the right of “advanced” in my case is the skin button.
The strange thing, is that I made another album with the same skin, and here, that text link is not present ??

I was using the “PhotoStack” skin, and the button there is the skin button too. If you have a look at this particular skin you will see what I mean. Perhaps “add parent link” is called something else in “Lightbox2”?

on my master page I use a background image (black).

Why bother if it just a black square - just choose Black from the background color dropdown selector.
