In search engines, "WWW" not showing up in the URL

I have designed a few websites now, and when I search some of the domains in a search engine (and it doesn’t matter whether it is google, yahoo, or bing) sometimes the results show the site’s URL as “www.example.com” and some are just listed as “example2.com” with no “www”.

Is there are a reason for this? How I can make sure the “www” is always there?

You can see an example of this with one of my sites, http://www.theguitaroutlet.com

If you google “theguitaroutlet.com”, (here is a link to that search: theguitaroutlet.com - Google Search)

in the results you will see my Home Page listed first with the “www” in the url, then my Clearance Page listed with no “www” in the url. The results that follow in the search are all pages from my site, some have the “www” and some don’t.

Any input on this would be great! Thanks.

Does anyone have any input they could provide on this? Is it something I should be concerned about?

Thanks!
